So what happens when you go for a TREATMENT?
Arrive at the clinic with a “clean face” — washed and without makeup.
When you arrive I'll ask you to fill in a consent form and give you some information to read over. I'll then go through this with you and answer any questions and discuss and concerns which you might have. We'll decide what treatment plan best is most appropriate for you provided you are suitable .
Ill then cleanse your skin and, in order to maximize your comfort during the procedure, a topical anesthetic may be applied. It is essential that I take before and after photos to comply with insurance but don't worry, I won't post these to social media without your consent.
The treatment....you lie back and relax.
WITHIN THE FIRST HOUR OF TREATMENT:
Apply an ice pack and Arnica topically — Arnica tablets are both natural supplements to reduce bruising.
Take paracetamol to reduce pain as necessary.
Avoid itching, massaging, or picking around the injection site. This is normal and generally disappears within a few hours to a few days. If these symptoms last more than 3 days, please contact our office.
WITHIN 24 HOURS OF TREATMENT:
Avoid drinking alcohol on the same day.
Avoid partaking in strenuous exercise for 24 hours, as it may result in additional bruising.
Until the swelling and redness have resolved, avoid intense heat in the treated area(s). This includes sunbathing, tanning, saunas, hot tubs, or hot wax.
To help alleviate bruising, we recommend taking Arnica, eating fresh pineapple, and applying ice to the area.
To help alleviate swelling, we recommend an antihistamine during the day, like Zyrtec or Claritin, and Benedryl at night.
If there is a visible bump, you can massage the area. Depending on the areas treated and the product used, you may feel “firmness.” These areas will soften and settle with time (usually 1-2 weeks).
Sunscreen and makeup can be applied after 6 hours and you may use a gentle cleanser on the area but don't touch the area unnecessarily due to the risk of infection.
🔴PLEASE CONTACT ME IMMEDIATELY IF YOU:
Have fever and/or chills, have discolored blotches in areas not injected or blanching of injected areas if the area appears red, hot to the touch, or you have severe or increasing pain.
Most importantly of all enjoy your lips and drink plenty of water ...hyaluronic acid loves water!
Be aware that it will take at least two weeks for any bruising or swelling to settle and I will be in touch to check up on how you are doing.
